 The Turner Children

Please help the Turner Children

Athena with a new pet but it flew away....

I am the mother of a wonderful son, Doug Turner, and grandmother of three grandchildren, Gage 15, Athena 13, and Alexis Mae 10.  About three years ago, my son was granted full custody of his children with no visitation to the mother.  It was a Georgia divorce and she never bothered showing up in court though she knew about it.

My son and his wife, Stephanie -step-mother- had moved to Florida so the children can be around family.  His ex-wife found out the children moved back to Florida and came down from Texas to try to gain custody of the children.  The courts gave my son custody,  due to she left her children at different places so she could run around with her boyfriend and party plus had tried to commit suicide.  She is very unstable and we fear what will happen to the children if she succeeds in gaining custody of them and leaving state.  Gage and Alexis want nothing to do with her and does not even want to see her on her scheduled visitation days.

The ex-wife, last year had called social services on a daily bases trying to claim child abuse so she can get the children.  The social worker had came to my son's house but found nothing so she closed the case.   This mother will do anything to try to regain custody of the children which includes lying to social services and putting the children through interviews.  Gaining custody of the children is her way of trying to get out of her child support obligations which is now above the $10,000 mark.  Orange County, Florida Courts have issued a temporary child support order, but it could take months for them to get it into their system. We all know men as deadbeat dads, but this is a deadbeat mother. She will do anything to get back at Doug and make his life unbearable even if it is at the expense of the children.

National Child Abuse Statistic

Child Abuse in America

Doug and Athena with her awards
Children are suffering from a hidden epidemic of child abuse and neglect. Every year more than 3 million reports of child abuse are made in the United States involving more than 6 million children (a report can include multiple children). The United States has the worst record in the industrialized nation – losing five children every day due to abuse-related deaths.

She has picked the children up and drove them almost an hour away while driving drunk.  The children didn't know what to do and when they got to their grandmother's house, the children told her about how their mother was driving drunk. The grandmother lied to social services to help her daughter,   The children told them what happened but the other county Social Worker believed the mother who said the children were lying and she never drove drunk.

My son has borrowed money for the retainer fee of an attorney, but now the case will be going to trial soon and he has to come up with more money or go into court and represent himself.

The only thing about going before this judge without an attorney, this judge doesn't like men and would not even let my son speak in defense when  the mother first came down from Texas – so much for an impartial hearing - and listened to the ex-wife where she all she did was cry and the judge gave her visitation.

Doug has served in the Iraq war and has injuries with only a part time job trying to make ends meet since the ex-wife owes thousands in back child support and and still pays no support.  He desperately wants to keep children.

The children are currently in counseling along with the rest of the family - thank you Social Services for seeing a problem and trying to help this family out some way.

My son loves his children very much and only wants the best for them and is very concerned for their safety and well-being.
